Apple Crumble Pie

Any time of the day, no matter which season we are in, apple crumble will have a special place in our life. You can have it warm or cold, with ice cream or custard, your recipe maybe a little bit different than others, apple crumble or apple pie will be the winner for the comfort food.

This is my version of apple pie and is part crumble, part pie. It’s so easy to make and enjoyable to eat

Ingredients

1 Cup: 200ml

For the Base

  • 3 cups self-rising flour
  • 5 tablespoon of ice water
  • 1/2 cup 100gr white sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 150gr cold butter or margarine

For the Filling

  • 3 large apples (depending on how many apples filling you want)
  •  1 cup sliced plum or any other fruit you desire
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 3/4 cup white sugar 
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

For the Topping

  • 1 cup flour
  • 100 gr butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1teaspoon cinnamon 

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C)

Make the dough

 In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and butter and combine. Add 5tablespoon ice water, mix all together, place in a 9inc cake tin, press down evenly 

Make the filling

  Slice the apples, place in a pot with sugar, cook on a medium to high heat till apples get softer. Add the plum or fruit of your choice and cinnamon, cook another 3minutes

For the Crumble 

Blend the flour and butter until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs

Cover the pastry dough with the fruit filling, sprinkle with the crumble mix.

Transfer the pie to the oven to bake for 25 minutes or until crisp and golden-brown on top.
